Introduction
The predecessor of School of Professional Development in Construction (SPDC) was established in 1994 and it had been previously named as the “Management & Safety Training Centre (MSTC)” and the “Centre for Professional Development (CPD)”. SPDC is the professional education arm of the Hong Kong Institute of Construction (HKIC) and it is established to provide professional and continuing education pathways for industry practitioners in construction.

Skills, knowledge, professionalisation and technology innovation in construction are increasingly essential to drive forward the industry performance. Under the auspices of the HKIC and the synergy through the support from the HKSAR Government and the collaboration with industry partners, SPDC provides the best possible combination of continuing professional education and training for industry practitioners in construction.
SPDC is committed to providing continuing education programmes for in-service professionals in the construction industry; providing training opportunities for front-line supervisors/ managerial personnel to pursue their career in the construction industry with an aim to enhance their industrial know-how and competitiveness; developing various professional training in construction to support and promote Construction 2.0, making SPDC a leading institute in management and technical training; and improving the programme quality continuously in order to further enhance the School’s competitiveness and market leadership position and hence become the preferred institution of continuing professional education for construction industry practitioners.
