Discovering World Heritage: Fujian Tulou Cultural Tour Image

As a common saying goes, "Travelling brings about far greater benefit than mere book learning." In order to encourage students to step out of the campus and experience different cultures in person, HKIC organised a three-day "Discovering World Heritage: Fujian Tulou Cultural Tour" from 8 to 10 June 2024, which attracted the active participation of 22 students from the Advanced Diploma, Diploma in Construction, and Certificate in Construction Programmes.

During the trip, the students visited multiple historical and cultural landmarks in Xiamen and Zhangzhou, Fujian, including the Tianluokeng Tulou Cluster, Gulangyu Island, Zheng Chenggong Memorial Hall, Zeng Cuo An Village, and Jimei School Village. They gained an in-depth understanding of the region's long history and culture, as well as its modern urban development, while experiencing the charm of the Hakka and Minnan traditional cultures.

Through field study, the students not only deepened their understanding of Chinese culture, but also learn more about the country's development from the perspectives of history, culture, and heritage preservation, thereby broadening their horizons. The trip also promoted exchanges among peers, strengthening their friendships. The participants expressed that the journey was fruitful, and they look forward to more opportunities to embark on explorations of the cultural treasures of the country in the future.
