The Construction Industry Council (CIC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Guangzhou Light Industry Technician College (GLITC) on 5 June 2024 to establish a partnership to provide intensive training and exchange opportunities for the competitor in Joinery of the WorldSkills Competition.

Ir Prof. Thomas HO, Chairman of the CIC, witnessed the MOU signing ceremony and mentioned that the CIC has been arranging various training and exchange competitions for competitors of WorldSkills Competition to strike for the best in the competition. Dr. Morgan YANG, Director of Hong Kong Institute of Construction, believed the partnership with GLITC undoubtedly provides the opportunities for nurturing talents, as well as facilitating exchange between Hong Kong and Guangzhou.

Dr. YANG believed the skills of the competitors can be greatly enhanced through the joint training, competitions, observations and skill exchanges and hoped to extend the partnership to other fields in the future to unleash the potential of teenagers and improve their competitiveness.

The representatives of the CIC also visited GLITC and the training bases of Joinery to learn the outstanding skills of China WorldSkills team.
