Hong Kong Institute of Construction (HKIC) has been providing quality construction training in Hong Kong for over 50 years.
To foster students’ understanding of and respect for national symbols and to reinforce their sense of national identity, HKIC invited Mr Jay Chong from the Association of Hong Kong Flag-guards to deliver a Whole Person Development Talk on the Symbolic Significance of the National Flag and Emblem at the Sheung Shui and Kwai Chung Campuses on 17 December 2025 and 12 February 2026 respectively.
Drawing on his professional expertise, Mr Chong outlined the historical background, design principles, and compositional elements of the national flag and emblem. Using vivid historical anecdotes, he helped students appreciate the circumstances of their creation and the values they represent. He also reviewed, with practical examples, the protocols and etiquette for displaying the flag and emblem at international events, demonstrating the correct methods for raising and handling them.
Through the engaging presentation, students gained a deeper appreciation of these national symbols and developed a respectful, responsible attitude toward preserving and upholding them.
