Hong Kong Institute of Construction (HKIC) has been providing quality construction training in Hong Kong for over 50 years.
Following the earlier "Fire Safety" lunchtime event, the Student Development Department continued its “Construction Safety Education” series with a lunchtime event, “Chemical Safety” held at the Kowloon Bay, Sheung Shui and Kwai Chung campuses from 25 to 27 February 2026. Focused on chemical labels, the sessions used interactive activities to deepen staff and students’ understanding of the multiple hazards posed by chemicals, and to promote correct practices for handling, storing and transporting them — cultivating sound protective habits and reinforcing occupational safety and health principles.
The events were lively and well attended, drawing more than 200 staff and students across the three campuses. The highlight, an interactive “Chemical Labels Matching Challenge”, gave attendees practical experience identifying common chemical labels and choosing safe responses for different scenarios. These activities sought to heighten safety awareness, strengthen risk‑recognition skills, and encourage the integration of occupational safety and health practices into everyday learning and work.
We thank all participants for their support and enthusiasm. The Student Development Department will continue to offer diverse safety-education initiatives as we work together to build a campus culture that places safety awareness at its core.
