Hong Kong Institute of Construction (HKIC) has been providing quality construction training in Hong Kong for over 50 years.
The Hong Kong Institute of Construction (HKIC) annual Student Sports Day was successfully held on 27 April. The event was filled with energy and enthusiasm, as students gave their best performances and demonstrated strong vitality and a spirit of teamwork.
In addition to traditional track and field events, this year’s Sports Day continued to feature the “Construction Safety Relay”, enhanced with new elements. The competition incorporated components such as the 4S Smart Site Safety System and exoskeleton devices, requiring participants not only to compete in speed but also to apply construction safety knowledge during the race. This innovative approach helped deepen students’ understanding of industry best safety practices and further strengthened safety awareness.
In support of the Construction Industry Council’s “2026 Year of Artificial Intelligence (AI)”, which aims to promote broader and more practical applications of AI in the construction industry, the Sports Day featured AI-powered sports experience booths and robot demonstrations. These activities allowed students to experience firsthand how technology can be integrated with the construction industry, broadening their perspectives.
Dr. Morgan YANG, Director of the HKIC, also attended the event to show his support for the participants and delivered a speech at the opening ceremony. He encouraged students to uphold the craftsmanship spirit throughout their learning and practice, while also embracing technological thinking and a strong safety culture, contributing to the sustainable development of Hong Kong’s construction industry.
The Sports Day concluded successfully amidst a vibrant atmosphere, with all participants demonstrating outstanding sportsmanship. HKIC congratulates all award winners and looks forward to witnessing even greater potential and performance from students at next year’s Sports Day.
