Hong Kong Institute of Construction (HKIC) has been providing quality construction training in Hong Kong for over 50 years.
The HKIC recently invited Cabinetmaking competitors from China and Korea to participate in the “2026 Friendly Skills Competition in Cabinetmaking”. The two-day competition provided an excellent platform for overseas and Hong Kong competitors to exchange ideas, share experiences, and enhance their technical skills and cultural understanding through hands-on competition.
Throughout the event, competitors demonstrated strong professional knowledge and exceptional craftsmanship, transforming pieces of wood into furniture that combined functionality with refined design. Beyond showcasing technical capability, the competition encouraged peer learning, cross cultural exchange and skills development among the competitors.
As Cabinetmaking is a new skill area in which the CIC is participating for the first time, the event offered our competitor a meaningful opportunity to compete alongside outstanding competitors from different countries and regions. Through this experience, our competitor gained practical experience and developed a deeper understanding of diverse Cabinetmaking techniques and craftsmanship traditions, further strengthening their preparation for international competition.
