To enhance safety awareness and operational standards on construction sites, the Hong Kong Institute of Construction (HKIC) held the Launching Ceremony for the “Certificate of Safe Operation of Mobile Elevating Work Platform” courses on 12 June 2025. The course integrates both theoretical and practical training, covering standard operating procedures, risk management techniques, and the application of smart safety systems, aiming to strengthen the professional competence and safety awareness of industry practitioners. The ceremony was attended by Ir Prof. Thomas Ho, Chairman of the Construction Industry Council, and Mr. Wan Chi-ping, Acting Deputy Commissioner for Labour (Occupational Safety and Health), both of whom delivered speeches emphasizing the importance of cultivating a safety-first culture in construction. The course will commence at the Tai Po Training Ground in late June, with English classes starting in July to facilitate participation by ethnic minorities. Through systematic training, the initiative aims to promote a safer and more efficient construction environment across the industry.
