The Hong Kong Institute of Construction (HKIC) is committed to improving the skills of current workers and launched a Special Class for "Home Makers" under the "Intermediate Tradesman Collaborative Training Scheme (Skills Enhancement Courses) " in May 2025. The course is designed for registered general workers who manage the household of their own families.

50 hours, The training period is specified by Training Bodies (Usually no more than 6 hours a day).
i) Eligible employees in Hong Kong (i.e. persons legally residing in Hong Kong who are free to be employed or work without conditions, including Hong Kong permanent residents and new arrivals); and
ii) Registered general workers; and
iii) At least 1 year construction related experience (verified by the training bodies); and
iv) Has not registered as registered semi-skilled workers or registered skilled workers of any trade under Construction Workers Registration Ordinance. However, those registered as registered skilled workers for <Construction Goods Vehicle Driver or their sub-categories> (C349a, C349b, C349c, C349d) and registered skilled workers for <Sub-categories of Plant and Equipment Operators> ((Plant and Equipment Operator (Suspended Working Platform)) C357, (Builder’s Lift Operator) C332) are exempted ; and
v) Has not obtained the intermediate trade test certificate or trade test certificate qualification ; and
vi) For those who have not taken the courses funded by the CIC and HKIC over one year prior to application; and
vii) Student must declare in the application form that they will take on household responsibilities. The application form will also state the consequences of providing false or inaccurate information, including cancellation of admission, monetary compensation, recovery of training allowances and referral to government law enforcement agencies for handling.
