(1) Ethnic minorities in Hong Kong aged 18 or above;
(2) Applicants should be Hong Kong legal residents and permitted to work in Hong Kong;
(3) Ability to speak, read and write in English;
(4) Card holder of Registered General Worker (RGW)(need to provide Worker’s Registration No.) and
(5) At least 1 year of working experience in construction field (must provide a copy of proof of employment.)
(6) Applicants for General Welding course (M32X) must be a certificate holder of Gas Welding Safety Training Course
Definition of unemployed / underemployed
(a) Construction Workers: Starting from the year 2024, the individual must have been employed in the construction industry for at least six months, with each of those months having 15 or more days of employment.
(b) The individual is either: Unemployed (i.e., has actively sought construction-related work in the past month but was not hired)
(c) Underemployed (i.e., applicant was employed in construction-related work for two consecutive months before applying the course, but less than 15 days of work per month in average).
Applicant must fulfilled conditions (1)-(5) and (a) + (b) or (c)
(2) An attendance rate of 85% or above is required. Students who meet the minimum attendance requirement will be recommended by HKIC to take the Intermediate Trade Test. In order to be entitled to the bonus of HK14,000, these students are required to achieve the attendancy, passed the Intermediate Trade and registered as semi-skilled worker (related trade).
(3) If applicant violates any course requirements before admission and intermediate trade test, training of the applicant will be terminated without prior notice and no bonus will be entitled.
(4) Applicants can only apply for one Skill Enhancement Course at a time.
(5) Applicants generally cannot enroll in more than one training course that offers allowances, bonuses, or subsidies provided by the Construction Industry Council or the Hong Kong Institute of Construction at the same time.
(6) Applicants must not have participated in any training course that offers allowances, bonuses, or subsidies provided by the Construction Industry Council or the Hong Kong Institute of Construction within the past year.
(7) HKIC will provide career services to graduates and track their employment status.
