HKIC established the "STEM Alliance" in 2018. It was transformed into the "STEAM Alliance" in 2022 to align with the Government's education policies and direction. The Alliance is led by a Steering Committee comprising representatives from the Development Bureau, academia, school-sponsoring bodies and the construction industry.

In addition, the STEAM Alliance has organised its annual flagship event, the "Hong Kong Secondary School STEAM x BIM Construction Model Creative Design Competition", for several consecutive years. These activities aim to increase students' exposure to, and understanding of, engineering and technology, laying a strong foundation for future education and innovation and technology development. Winners may receive cash vouchers, and participants may receive certificates of participation.

STEAM Alliance school membership is granted on a school basis. The secondary school must complete the "STEAM Alliance Membership Reply Slip" (available on the HKIC website under Partners > STEAM Alliance > "STEAM Alliance Membership Reply Slip" at the bottom of the page). HKIC will contact the teacher responsible after receiving the application.
