Knowledge of explosives; Safety for blasting operation

Completion of this course may fulfill one of the renewal conditions for applying for Mines Blasting Certificate from CEDD. For details, please refer to the Mines Division Practice Note No.3, particularly sections 5, 5.1 and 5.2.
Note: If the relevant refresher course approved by the Superintendent of Mines under CEDD is completed within 12 months, the written examination may be exempted when applying for the renewal of the ‘Mine Blasting Certificate’. However, this course does not include specific shotfiring equipment (e.g. electronic detonators); therefore, holders of the ‘Mine Blasting Certificate’ who are specified as operators of specific shotfiring equipment may need to take part in the written examination arranged by the Mining Division of CEDD when applying for renewal.

(i) Previously held / currently holds Mines Blasting Certificates (The revevant details are based on Geotechnical Engineering Office, Civil Engineering and Development Department – Mines Division Practice Note No.3 (MDPN3); and(ii) Completed Form 3 or equivalent (Applicants who do not meet the requisite academic qualification must pass the Chinese and English test of the Hong Kong Institute of Construction).; and(iii) 2 years relevant working experience and can read and write the Chinese.
